Unmarked Trip Zone in Cafe

The HMR Trading Haus across from Pioneer Point Condominiums in Mandaluyong City Barangay Kapitolyo,  promotes themselves as The Best Surplus Haus in Manila. I sure do not doubt that claim as they have a wide variety of selections  at very fair prices.

This includes a little cafe for shoppers with hungry tummies. The pic that you see below is the floor of that cafe not too far from the order counter. You will observe the rise in the floor which extends for approximately 3 meters. The change in elevation is maybe 2.5 inches(around 6.5 centimeters) which does not seem like much, but this writer stumbled over it barely avoiding tripping and falling as he was approaching counter to place order for what turned out to be an exceptionally delectable BLT sandwich.

The attendants, apparently quite aware of the hazardous stumble zone, always bring food out to the tables of patrons. In the United States, there would either be a prominently posted Watch your Step sign OR the floor would be leveled or flattened out for safer passage ASAP!

I asked one of the locals how long the floor had  possessed this deformity that could lead to a lawsuit. She did not know and seemed quite amused that I even brought attention to it! Oh WELL, I guess we have proof denizens of this Island Nation are not at litigious as Americans.
