I was confused by a Wisconsin public notice where an educator’s credit union had to legally go after Ruby M. Sutton for failing to make her monthly payments on a 2009 Nissan Murano. Ruby was summoned to a circuit court for a REPLEVIN .
So I figured the REP in REPLEVIN just had to stand for Repossess. However when I looked it up, it means a lawsuit that allows a person to retrieve personal property taken wrongfully or unlawfully, pending a final determination by a court of law, and get compensation for resulting losses. Such compensation could be damages resulting from no maintenance or reckless operation of said vehicle.
More proof that teachers are underpaid and well-intentioned people, who are not criminals, having their name tarnished and even their careers threatened.
