Would You Like to Teach Biology,Physics, or English in the US Virgin Islands?

I guess any teachers reading this might quarrel ¬†with the choice of the preposition “in” in the title of the post, after all wouldn’t you be teaching “on” the Virgin Islands?? If you noticed this grammatical subtlety, then you are hired ūüôā

Physics Teacher needed at small private International Academy in the US Virgin Islands.

The Perter Gruber International Academy is seeking several teachers for Fall 2013.  Openings include Physics, Biology, and English.  For further details those interested can email Gloria Zakers (gzakers@vimsia.org) or see the school website (www.vimsia.org).  This is in the United States (just east of Puerto Rico), so no passport is necessary, but candidates must be able to work in the US.
My wife Roxanne & I have been teaching here for two years and have loved the school; but, we have found jobs in Chengdu, China and will be leaving at year’s end.
Thanks for sharing the info,
Shawn Price (MST 2008)

  1. This teacher needs to be ready to hike and be in decent shape:

We are lucky enough to be adding another APS resource teacher position at the SMNHC. I am sharing this with you because I’d like to have the posting scattered far and wide – please pass the information along to all of your colleagues and/or networks and specifically to anyone who you believe might be interested (and/or consider applying if you think this is something you’d like to do!).

Basically, we are seeking a teacher who has…
    * environmental field experience (although this is teachable, the candidate should have some experience taking students into the field)

    * 5-7 years K-8 classroom teaching experience with level 2 licensure

    * Spanish language proficiency preferred

    * Demonstrated leadership in teacher collaboration & professional development

    * A solid understanding of technology and its use as an educational tool

    * Ability to hike 3-4 miles daily

    * Knowledge/interest of the Sandia ecosystem and NM natural history

    * This position will support the Sandia Mountain Natural History Center and Los Padillas Wetlands.

The job number on the APS website is 00010973. All resumes and inquiries should be sent to Jami Jacobson, APS Department of Curriculum and Instruction Executive Director at Jacobson_j@aps.edu.

Thank you so much for your time and support!

    Vince Case
    APS Environmental Education Resource Teacher
