Take a look at the following law firm advertisement. We could not figure it out for the longest time. What did fess mean on this pay per click online ad? Why would the Albuquerque based Crow law firm pay for an ad with a meaningless term in its wording.

Then it hit me! Fess is a misspelled version of fees which makes complete sense. In the day this was called representing a client on a contingency basis, meaning your lawyer does NOT earn a penny in fees unless they win in court or reach an out of court settlement.

Even though this ad is for Car Accidents, B.J. Crow of Roswell NM has won some high dollar work place discrimination cases . Word around town is he won a case where a Mexican guy was getting called a beaner, spic, and other racial slurs everyday at work.  A very lucrative settlement was reached and a strong message issued to the white trash employers who were making fun of the tormented Hispanic dude.
