This 1948 movie directed by Anthony Mann was a prison break movie where Dennis O’Keefe’s character was aided by two love interests.

The getaway car was reported statewide as having 92 as the first two digits of its license plate. They strong armed a guy at a gas station and stole his vehicle. He chased them in the criminal’s car and was mistakenly arrested as the perpetrator!

This film noir set in California(Crescent City) got its title from the Raw Deal his female friends got being associated with a convict who used and abused them. It emplyoyed the literary device of soliloquy where women revealed to audience their insecurities in being party to liberating a heartless crook from the pen.

Oh yeah, Union Oil Company sold 5 gallons of gas for a single dollar in those days!
