L J M’s Travel Center at 504 Old Highway 85, Wagon Mound, New Mexico literally saved us from being stranded about a month ago as we were lost, running on empty tank, trying to find our long lost uncle near Las Vegas.

We were so happy to have stumbled upon this well maintained travel center, in the middle of nowhere, that we barely noticed the gas pumps were not connected to any type of credit card machine which is a must for an interstate travel center(LJM’s is located just off I25.

I mentioned to the friendly and intelligent middle aged Hispanic attendant that I did not like leaving my credit card  with him because the 3 digit CVC code is on the back and can lead to your card being used fraudulently if it falls into the wrong hands.

He stated that the owner had been bending over backwards to make the gas pumps credit card compliant. She is having to deal with a lot of regulatory and inspection requirements and hassles, but wants to have credit card machines on each of the pumps as soon as possible to minimize any customer inconveniences.
