We found ourselves in Hagerman, New Mexico home of the fighting Bobcats on a lazy Saturday afternoon. We had heard great things about Piccolino Italian Restaurant and decided to try them out. The place was clean and the staff was friendly.
We ordered lobster ravioli and pescatore along with a Caesar’s salad. The lobster ravioli was not much better than a high-end TV dinner and the white wine pescatore was minus any evidence that white wine had actually been added! The meal was marginally acceptable, but much lower than our expectations.
While we were dining, three pizza pick ups took place. The cowboy couple seated near us spent a lot of time discussing bulls, bucking chutes, and rodeos.
The Piccolino prices are very fair. The Caesar’s salad only cost 3 dollars which is about what it was worth as the dressing must have come from a cheap bottle Caesar’s dressing. The lobster ravioli was 8 dollars.
As we exited we noted that Piccolinos had been given an award for the top urban entrepreneur.
So I guess it is a toss-up whether you should venture 25 miles southeast of Roswell to this Italian Mom and Pop establishment.
