Review: Irish Pub San Antonio, Texas USA

Here is a riverside photo of Durty Nelly’s Irish Pub on the Riverwalk in San Antonio,TX USA, not Bunratty, Co. Clare, Ireland. I guess they sold their Irish Charm to Hilton Hotels, but their friendly ghost (see the dark silhouette attached to human looking head near the cruise boat)  followed them all the way to the Riverwalk. The evanescent one passed back and forth 5 or 6 times while we were wolfing down our patty melts and booze. Drunk patrons noticed with no apparent fear or alarm. Ghosts aren’t even a story with shock value these days!

A pretty good piano bar with a few Billy Joel bonding moments, but also can get raucous  and offensive with obvious sexual undertones. I think they want to appeal to the family set, but horny young men and women telling dirty jokes has a tendency to be repulsive and run off would be family group patronage.

When we walked in, it took them around 3 minutes to even notice we were there and seat us outside not far from the river. The food was pretty good as we had to tolerate a loud mouth nuclear engineer who was always explaining his weak jokes to girl at next table who he thought liked him. A guy name John was our server and did an excellent job. We gave him a 20% tip.
