The Perils of Retail Furniture Sales

Skeen’s Furniture ┬áin Roswell,NM wanted $4098 for the beautiful leather sofa you see in the picture. They were conducting a Going Out of Business sale that they advertised as once in a lifetime. Well, for them it is once in a lifetime, but not for the customers as retail furniture companies are getting slaughtered by the hundreds nationwide. I think Glenn’s Furniture is also going belly up. The one time we shopped there, we felt most items were overpriced. Don’t notice many vehicles parked there when we drive by.

We could not get them to come down much on items priced way t0o high for an alleged going out of business liquidation sale. We walked out without buying a thing much to chagrin and disappointment of a friendly lady sales person.

Each of the items in this giant warehouse had a tag like the one you see in the pic. Each tag warned all dealers that an appointment was required for a private negotiating session I guess. I think estate sales in Roswell is one of the reasons furniture retailers are biting the big one these days.

We have bought some high quality and finely crafted kitchen ware and furniture around town at estate sales for rock bottom prices!
