The bar graph you see below is what Triond reports to its writers regarding Top Referring Sites. What information does the top Top Referring Sites graph provide? As you can see from the graph Google Searches were responsible for 152 of my Triond articles being viewed( not necessarily read 🙂 ).
Triond views were second at 46 which means the Google searches produced page views that more than tripled Triond Fan,Friends, passerby views! So the Google Triond ratio, of over 3 in this case, can be viewed as a metric on how “healthy” your content is. I can remember the days where if i did not write new Triond articles every day, my views would be in the toilet. I am talking less than 10 views a day. Currently my Google to Triond Ratio is 3.30 and I get a little over 35 page views a day whether I am writing new articles or not. A writer like Tulan who produces around 15-20 articles per week probably relies on page views from her friends and fans at Triond. These page views pay less than page views based on search engine traffic.
Another way of thinking about or interpreting the Google to Triond ratio is that the higher the Google/Triond ratio, the better the organic search page views. What is meant by organic search page view? Organic search page views describes a search that returns results by indexing pages based on content and keyword relevancy.
Contrast this with the warm, fuzzy, nice share page views that your Triond Fans and Friends give you. There is no doubt that organic page views pay more than Triond page views. Moreover, organic page views create the potential for an enduring residual revenue stream.
But even the best profit analysis can not offset the fact that Triond might not always be fair regarding how they share the ad revenue with their writers. They could easily withhold money you have earned and keep it for themselves. Moreover, a Triond publisher has no way of verifying how much earnings they have coming since Triond does not clearly state how the revenue is shared.
In short, Triond could ripping you off big time and you would never know. There are plenty of inexpensive web hosting sites. Consider dumping Triond and having more control over the earnings your writing deserves.
