Sometimes it is extremely difficult to keep your cool when you are on the phone with your cell phone provider, Cable TV representative, or your employer retirement plan representative. Remember that it is rarely the person you are on the telephone with who has actually done you wrong! The grievance you probably have is with whom the phone messenger works for.
So be sure and not go ballistic on the messenger who is probably working for near minimum wage. I am speaking about phone rage which is at least as prevalent and widespread as road rage. Getting angry on the phone is much easier than becoming enraged in your car. Call center employees are trained to take a certain amount of verbal abuse from customers before hanging up or refusing service.
Maybe you or your children have had a job that involves answering the phone and dealing with the wrath of the general public. Nobody likes to be yelled at even if they are trained to do so.
Finally, sort of related is what Kevin Williamson did to a fellow theater patron when she refused to quit using her smart phone during the performance and the management refused to enforce their no phone usage policy . Kevin may be facing criminal charges for doing what needed to be done!
