Who could forget how Tom Cruise came off poorly on the Matt Lauer show when he criticized Brooke Shields for consuming anti depressants to battle postpartum depression. Cruise did apologize to Andre Agassi’s ex wife, but still maintained that taking drugs to help cure depression is an ineffective and even harmful approach to curing melancholy.
Cruise was also exceedingly critical of the psychology and psychiatry professions which is typical for practitioners of Scientology. We do know that Cruise was completely programmed by Lafayette Ronald Hubbard to have contempt and disdain for psychology. Outside of his insensitivity to the Blue Lagoon star, I completely support his opposition to the soft science of psychiatry.
Patients who see psychiatrists are easy to exploit because they are often depressed and vulnerable which makes it easy for the “doctor” to deceive and over bill them. So I was not surprised about fraudulent billing practices of mental health professionals in New Mexico where they over billed the government.
An audit revealed a mental health provider billed the government for nearly 700,000 dollars! Matt Kennicott of human services indicated the state is trying to recover the money which should be viewed as funds stolen from the state’s tax payers!
Medicaid payments were suspended for some mental health providers due to lies about billing practices and incomplete and inaccurate bookkeeping guidelines and standards. Attorney General Gary King, who recently illegally interfered with the opening of a horse slaughterhouse in Roswell, helped to clear the name of an Alamogordo based mental health provider.
