Unethical Practice by Farmers Insurance

Big corporations hire teams of lawyers to verify that all their policies and actions are legal and aboveboard.

Farmers Insurance company attempts to force its customers to store their credit card information permanently at the Farmers website. While this practice may be legal, it strikes me as unethical.

See the picture below for proof of this where Farmers will not let their valued customers cancel a transaction unless they permanently store credit card number and expiration date.

The exact language is ” payments made without a stored payment method may not be canceled once submitted ”

Farmers Group Inc. would be well advised to be cautious about coercing people to store sensitive information on servers that can be hacked which could lead to identity theft.

  1. I was told too late by some of my colleagues in Aurora CO that Farmers auto insurance phone reps will give you the run around.

We filed a claim against a Farmers’ customer because she backed into our car. I was told within 1 business day We would be contacted. A day and a half passed with no call back from them. I called in and our claim and was transferred to another agent. I was told by the first agent that they were too busy. After speaking with the second agent, Tammy, she also stated she was too busy and it was my responsibility to keep my damages in line and I could file a claim against my own insurance!!!!! I told her that her customer backed into my car and busted our tail light. Tammy said again that I can have the car fixed myself. If you have a claim with Farmers, please be aware of the unacceptably awful service that they provide.
