Small Town SE NM Dealing with Yet Another Death

For those who believe violent, unsolved deaths are limited to the big metro areas in the United States, please look no further than Roswell New Mexico.

The headline story the last two days have described a gruesome murder and a suspicious, what appears to be, unattended death in an unmaintained alley between Shartelle and Garden Avenues. Some good news for the family of Ernest Lee Sipe(mentally disabled and Type 1 diabetic) who thought the alleyway corpse might have have been their loved one who had been reported missing.

I do wonder if associating/reporting the name of unaccounted for Ernest with this tragedy was in keeping with privacy rights and journalism standards codes(SPJ)? Note that the privacy of the woman, taking out her garbage, who found the dead human being was protected.

Thanks to the Roswell Paper’s criminal activity reporter for his comprehensive piece. Too many Roswell citizens do not even subscribe to newspaper because of the excessive violence it reports. I side with the RDR. You can NOT bury your head in sand and just send your kids to church to pray high rate of crime will get better!

  1. RIP Matt Van Note. We know you battled the bottle every day! You tried brother, but damn insurance companies would not come through for you when you tried rehab. Ask Jennifer Latham of Boulder CO about that experience.

Everybody knows that allsups hold up was not your true character. Addiction is hell on earth, now you no longer suffer.
